Burgers. They’re one of the main food groups here in Texas, along with barbecue, Tex-Mex, and anything fried. But which ones are worth the precious money and calories? That’s exactly what you’re about to find out. Although we’ve written a few similar articles, we just keep uncovering new places that force us to do follow-up pieces. Here are some of the best ones, along with a few repeats that are just too delicious to pass up mentioning again.

It’s been voted the best burger in East Texas for over 25 years and even the number one in the entire state by Texas Highways Magazine. There’s just something about a Jucys Cheeseburger that’s unmatched by any other burger in Texas.

So many of you said we should’ve included Dave’s in our previous burger articles, so we had to see what all the hype was about - and it definitely lived up to our expectations. If you’re feeling brave enough, you can take on the famous Zipper Ripper challenge, which is a massive burger with five patties, five slices of cheese, five slices of bacon, and a pound of fries. For us normal people, a couple of patties will hit the spot just fine. Don’t worry, this burger is still Texas-sized.

There’s something irresistible about a big, juicy, home-cooked Southern burger.

They execute the classic combination of tender beef, crispy bacon, and melty cheese perfectly for a burger your taste buds will never forget.

It’s just THAT good, y’all. This burger has fried onion strings, guacamole, cheddar cheese, and chipotle sauce. Everything a Texan needs, right?

A reader on a previous burger article called Boots the “best kept secret in Texas.” That statement couldn’t hold any more truth considering it’s a tiny little shack with a walk-up window. You’re sure to miss it if you aren’t looking for it! But when you do find it, boy, is it a diamond in the rough. Burgers are the only menu item here, so you know they put all their time and energy into making them as delicious as possible - not to mention they don’t have to waste any effort keeping up a fancy atmosphere. So folks, get yourself over to Boots ASAP. And don’t forget the jalapeño relish!

Yelp/Megan P. This little chuckwagon knows how to serve up a good burger. It was featured on Man Vs. Food, so you know it has to be something pretty special. We Texans like our food smokin’ hot, so I highly recommend the Hell Burger, which has sauteed jalapeños AND Coyote Hell sauce. Don’t ask me what’s in it because I don’t know, but just know it’ll set your mouth on fire in the best way possible. Oh, and don’t forget to order a massive plate of cheese fries on the side.
