New Mexico has many beautiful wineries that are definitely worth exploring, but we also have an ever-increasing number of breweries. Many are in the Albuquerque area but, even outside Duke City, you’ll find a surprising number of breweries and tap rooms. These 12 establishments combine quality beer with delectable food. Bring your appetite – and a designated driver!

Facebook/Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery
Yelp/Robin S. The folk at Little Toad Creek describe their food as a “mix of fresh and fried,” from fish and chips to salads. The brewery is particularly strong on ale and – as an added bonus – this place is also a micro-distillery. Green chile vodka, anyone? The most convenient location is in downtown Silver City at 200 N Bullard Street, but there’s also a seasonal location 25 miles north of town (1122 Highway 35, Silver City).
- Duel Brewing (Santa Fe and Albuquerque)
Facebook/Duel Brewing
Facebook/Duel Brewing This Belgian-style brewery offers generous flights. Try the popular fantin, which is a double-pale ale. Admittedly the food menu here isn’t extensive. - Freight House (Bernalillo)
Facebook/Freight House Kitchen + Tap
Yelp/Shelly A. If you’re in the mood for down home done fancy, you’ll love this restaurant, where an award-winning chef produces creative meals such as lobster tater tots with sriracha sauce and jalapeño aioli, and a flight of bacon. New rule: every restaurant must offer bacon flights! There are 24 beers and ciders available and, although this spot is technically a tap house rather than a brewery, the food’s so good you won’t care. Freight House is located at 200 S Camino Del Pueblo in Bernalillo.

- Nexus Brewery (Albuquerque)
Facebook/Nexus Brewery

- Socorro Springs Restaurant and Brewing Company (Socorro)
Yelp/Hugo B.
Yelp/Vicky N. If you want to nitpick, this New Mexico location is affiliated with Eddyline Brewery up in Buena Vista, Colorado. This restaurant and brewhouse is located at 1012 N California Street in Socorro.
- Bosque Brewing Company (Albuquerque and Las Cruces)
Yelp/Ana C.
Yelp/Raina B. Bosque Brewing Company definitely lives up to the expectations set by the term “gastropub.” Dishes here are diverse and creative, from duck poutine to green chile falafel, to banh mi. The beer is just as unexpected. Where else can you find a pink ale called Elephants on Parade (pictured)? There are two Albuquerque locations: 8900 San Mateo Boulevard NE, Suite I and 106 Girard Boulevard SE, Suite B. The Las Cruces location is at 901 E. University Avenue, Building 945, Suite 3-A.
